Model Testing

AARC offers model testing in ice as a cost-efficient tool to develop ship projects, offshore oil and gas related projects, port developments, and for the verification of ice performance.

AARC has gathered an unique knowledge base from designing and constructing icebreakers and ice-going vessels for more than 50 years. There is no other marine consulting and testing facility in the world with such a large full-scale test correlation database, which is the one most important asset for correctly predicting real world physics from model testing. Such AARC's references include some 400 model test series.

AARC is now running its third ice model basin. The first was inaugurated in 1969. The second laboratory, closed in 2006, was built in 1983. The FG Model ice developed inhouse has proven to be the most reliable ice material to model different ice conditions.
